About the Composer: Brian Balmages

Brian Balmages has built a career moving fluidly across orchestral, wind band, and chamber music worlds, earning recognition from major performance halls including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Sydney Opera House. His compositions have reached audiences everywhere from professional symphony orchestras to elementary school ensembles, and his accolades include the A. Austin Harding Award, the 2020 NBA William D. Revelli Composition Contest for Love and Light, and membership in the American Bandmasters Association.

As a conductor, Balmages maintains an active guest schedule with all-state groups, university ensembles, and professional orchestras across the globe. He has appeared at the Midwest Clinic, Western International Band Clinic, and numerous national conferences. Currently, he serves as Director of MakeMusic Publications and Digital Education for Alfred and MakeMusic, and holds distinguished alumni recognition from both James Madison University and the University of Miami, where he composed music for a presidential inauguration.
