In Vol. 2 of this series, Zoro chronologically traces the evolution of funk drumming by examining the work of the era's most influential groups, drummers, and innovative grooves beginning with James Brown and ending with the disco era. Original songs by James Brown; Charles Wright & The Watts 103rd Street Band; Earth, Wind, and Fire and more are covered. Topics demonstrated are ride work, touch, the authentic hi-hat approach to funk, independence exercises to develop utterly funky hi-hat work, and some innovative ride and cross-over patterns and exercises for mastering the 8th- and 16th-note feels.
