About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has shaped choral education for over three decades, earning her reputation as both a composer and a champion of movement-integrated choral singing. Since 1987, she has been a consistent ASCAP Special Music Award recipient, with more than 600 choral publications and 75 larger works including full musicals in active use in schools. Her experience conducting honor choirs at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center reflects her deep understanding of what resonates with young singers and their directors.

Albrecht served as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications for major educational publishers, most recently Alfred Music, where her knowledge of classroom realities directly informed her compositions. She holds degrees from Rollins College (B.A. in Music and Theater, 1976), the University of Miami (M.A. in Drama, 1977; M.M. in Accompanying, 1979), and has taught in university music departments across the country. In 2021, she received the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College, where she serves on the Board of Trustees.
