About the Composer: Joseph M. Martin
Joseph M. Martin studied piano performance at Furman University and earned his master's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he later taught in the Piano Pedagogy Department for five years. A accomplished concert pianist, he has performed solo recitals across the United States and Mexico, and was awarded the Nina Plant Wideman Competition, leading to a performance with the Guadalajara Symphony Orchestra. His recital at Ex-convento del Carman received national broadcast distribution.
Martin's compositional voice now centers on church music and works for conferences of church musicians, though his pieces span venues from Carnegie Hall to regional theaters. His catalog demonstrates remarkable range, from intimate worship settings to large ensemble works. He makes his home in Austin, Texas with his wife Sue and their children Jonathan and Aubrey.
