Catherine Rollin

Catherine Rollin balances an active composing practice with a teaching studio that has produced numerous award-winning students. She holds a Bachelor of Musical Arts degree with distinction from the University of Michigan and a master of Music degree from Oakland University School of Performing Arts, and has presented workshops and masterclasses across the United States, Canada, Japan, and Taiwan.

Rollin's compositions have earned commissions from the Clavier Companion magazine, the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and the Michigan Music Teachers Association. Multiple works have been selected for the National Federation of Music Clubs Festivals Bulletin. She has judged at the national level for the MTNA Student Composition Competition and served on the Lynn Freeman Olson Composition Contest panel. In 2018, she was commissioned for Suite Detroit (a trio for flute, alto saxophone, and piano) as part of MTNA's From the Pen to the Premiere series, which premiered at the MTNA national conference in Orlando. The Steinway Society honored her that fall with a concert featuring her as both composer and pianist, highlighting her ASCAP award-winning Museum Masterpieces series.
