Since 1993, he has composed over 300 works for concert band, string orchestra, and small ensembles; his pieces appear on contest lists nationwide and have become cornerstones of the young band curriculum.
Recognized with a Meritorious Achievement Award from the Texas Bandmasters Association and Distinguished Alumnus status from his college, Owens combines compositional craft with an educator's instinct for effective writing. His work with organizations like ASCAP, TMEA, and Phi Beta Mu reflects his ongoing investment in the field. Now based in Fort Worth, Texas, he continues to shape the musical experiences of young musicians across North America.
