Erik Morales brings a distinctive melodic sensibility to every genre he touches, from classical to jazz to commercial music. Since his formal education at Florida International University and the University of Louisiana, Lafayette, he has built a catalog of over 150 published works spanning wind ensembles, orchestras, jazz groups, and chamber settings, with performances featured internationally. His trumpet background has been particularly influential on his compositional voice; his trumpet ensembles have earned top honors at the National Trumpet Competitions, and his concertos have premiered at prestigious conferences including the International Trumpet Guild.

Morales' career path reflects his deep investment in music education. After his high school band director hired him to arrange marching band music in 1985, he pursued a dual mission: creating repertoire that honors both artistic integrity and pedagogical purpose. Schools and organizations across the country commission his work regularly. In 2016, he received induction into the Louisiana Association for Jazz Education's Hall of Fame, recognizing his sustained contributions to the field.
