William Owens brings three decades of classroom experience to his compositional work. A 1985 graduate of VanderCook College of Music, he has built a catalog of over 300 pieces for concert band, string orchestra, and chamber ensembles since 1993. His music appears on required lists across the country and has become foundational repertoire for young bands.

Owens is recognized by ASCAP, TMEA, and Phi Beta Mu International for his contributions to music education. He served as a band director in Texas for 30 years before retiring in 2014, earning the Texas Bandmasters Association's Meritorious Achievement Award and Distinguished Alumnus recognition from VanderCook. His compositions are celebrated for their practical pedagogy and musical substance.
