Douglas E. Wagner studied music at Butler University, earning both undergraduate and graduate degrees before launching a thirty-year career as a high school music educator and administrator in the Midwest. Since 1973, he has become one of the most prolific composers and arrangers in American music education, with more than 3,500 published titles spanning concert band, choir, orchestra, handbells, organ, piano, and vocal music.
Wagner's work has reached audiences far beyond the classroom, with performances documented on radio and television broadcasts across North America and internationally. Over seventeen million copies of his music have been purchased by schools, churches, and ensembles worldwide. He currently resides in Indianapolis, Indiana.
