About the Arranger: Jay Althouse
Jay Althouse holds degrees in Music Education and Music from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he was later honored as a Distinguished Alumnus. Early in his career, he spent eight years managing rights and licensing for a major educational music publisher and served on the Executive Board of the Music Publishers Association of America. His compositional output spans more than 800 choral works across all difficulty levels, performed regularly throughout the English-speaking world.
As a writer member of ASCAP, Althouse is a frequent recipient of the Special Award for his contributions to standard music repertoire. He has collaborated with his wife Sally K. Albrecht on several children's musicals, compiled respected vocal solo anthologies, and co-authored widely used instructional texts including The Complete Choral Warm-up Book and Accent on Composers. His educational resources for the music classroom include Ready to Read Music, Sixty Music Quizzes, and One-Page Composer Bios. Althouse co-wrote I Hear America Singing, performed by the San Francisco Girls and Boys Choirs at President Obama's 2009 Inauguration, and currently serves on the National Advisory Board of the Folk Art Society of America.
