About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has shaped American choral music for over four decades as a composer, conductor, and clinician with a distinctive focus on choral movement and staging. Consistently honored by ASCAP since 1987, she has published more than 600 choral works alongside 75 major songbooks and musicals, while simultaneously directing school choral and vocal publications for leading educational music houses, most recently Alfred Music. Her conducting credits span prestigious venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center, where she has led honor choirs and festivals nationwide.

Albrecht holds degrees from Rollins College (B.A., 1976) and the University of Miami, where she earned an M.A. in Drama and an M.M. in Accompanying. She has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. Recent honors include the 2021 Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College, where she serves on the Board of Trustees. She resides in North Carolina with her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse.
