About the Composer: Timothy Loest
Timothy Loest has spent over thirty years in the band room, where his deep understanding of young musicians directly shapes his compositions. His works have reached audiences far beyond the classroom, from performances at Chicago's Millennium Park to network television broadcasts including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America. In 2017, he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education, recognizing his sustained impact on instrumental music pedagogy.
Loest's publishing history spans multiple major houses including C.L. Barnhouse Company, FJH Music Company, and MakeMusic Publications, with compositions performed internationally by student ensembles. He co-authored several influential method series, among them Measures of Success: A Comprehensive Musicianship Band Method and Warm-ups and Beyond. In 2022, he founded Fanfare Music Press to focus on high-quality original compositions and arrangements for band. He holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, maintains ASCAP membership, and regularly accepts commissions for band music.
