About the Composer: Brant Karrick

Brant Karrick has shaped the band program at Northern Kentucky University since 2003, where he serves as Director of Bands and teaches conducting, instrumental methods, and music theory alongside his administrative duties. Before joining NKU, he spent nine years at the University of Toledo and seven years teaching in Kentucky public schools. His doctoral work in music education from Louisiana State University (completed 1994) grounds his approach to both teaching and composing.

Karrick's compositions have circulated internationally across the United States, Canada, Europe, South Africa, and Asia, establishing him as an active voice in band music. He remains engaged as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician while maintaining his work as an arranger and composer. His studies with David Livingston, Steve Beck, and Cecil Karrick shaped his compositional voice, and his professional involvement with ASCAP, NAFME, and the College Band Directors National Association reflects his commitment to the field.
