About the Composer: Jared Barnes

Jared Barnes brings together composition, conducting, and classroom experience as an Iowa-based musician whose works have earned recognition across the country. His pieces appear regularly on festival programs, honor band concerts, and prestigious lists including Stanton's Five Star Feature and the Bandworld Top 100.

With over a decade of teaching instrumental music in grades 5-12, Barnes understands what works on the podium and in the rehearsal room. His own bands have consistently earned top ratings at state festivals and were selected as Class 1A Honor Bands at the Iowa Bandmasters Convention in both 2011 and 2019. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Wartburg College.
