Betty Lea Martocchio

Betty Lea Martocchio brings twenty years of teaching and composing experience to her work as an independent piano instructor in San Diego. A Bachelor's degree from the University of Redlands and further study at Hartt College of Music and UC San Diego equipped her with deep knowledge of piano, theory, composition, and ethnomusicology. She has earned recognition as a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music through MTNA and serves as an adjudicator for The National Guild of Piano Teachers and the MTAC Certificate of Merit Program.

Her compositions have earned multiple prizes in the Music Teachers' Association of California State Composition Contests, including wins for Serendipity Rag, Sanderling, and Tropi-Cabana Suite. Currently Chair of the Independent Music Teachers' Forum at CAPMT, Martocchio also contributes regularly to professional publications addressing the needs of independent studio teachers. Her published works appear through Alfred Music Publishing and Myklas Music Press.
