Kris Berg directs the jazz studies program at Collin County Community College in Texas, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in jazz studies from the University of North Texas. His ensembles have received multiple invitations to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival, and he founded both the Collin Jazz Fest and the Texas All-Star Jazz Camp, establishing himself as a significant voice in jazz education and programming.

Berg's arrangements and compositions have circulated among professional and student musicians worldwide. As a prolific composer for Belwin Jazz (Alfred Publishing), he has worked extensively with clinicians and performers including Randy Brecker, Bob Mintzer, Clark Terry, and Kevin Mahogany. He remains active as a Yamaha artist and clinician while authoring instructional materials for jazz musicians.
