About the Composer: Kirk Vogel
Kirk Vogel earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Capital University in 1980, followed by a Master's degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1987. Throughout his career in Colorado schools, he taught band, orchestra, choir, and jazz at multiple levels, including Palisade Jr./Sr. High School, Bayfield Middle and High School, and Heath Middle School in Greeley, where his ensembles performed at state conventions and the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic.
As a composer, Vogel has published works with Kjos Music Company, Alfred Music, Grand Mesa Music, and Southern Music. His compositions Kokopelli, Three Waters Mountain, Escalante, and Perseids won Colorado Music Educators Association Composers Competition honors across four decades. Beyond composing, he serves as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician at regional conventions. He holds membership in the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) and continues an active compositional life in retirement.
