Don Besig

Don Besig spent 31 years as a public school music director in western New York, building choral programs known for strong showings at festivals, competitions, and community performances. His teaching reached students at every level, from middle school through advanced ensembles, and gave him direct insight into what singers actually need from the music they learn.

After recognizing the shortage of repertoire genuinely suited to student and volunteer choirs, Besig began composing for his own groups. His output has grown to over 350 original works and arrangements published by major school and church music houses, with sales exceeding 15 million copies. A guest conductor and clinician across 40 states and Canada, he holds degrees from Ithaca College and maintains memberships in ACDA, MENC, and ASCAP, earning multiple Special Awards for his contributions to choral music.
