Joseph M. Martin studied piano performance at Furman University and earned a master's degree from the University of Texas, Austin, where he later taught in the Piano Pedagogy Department. His performance credentials include solo recitals across the United States and Mexico, a featured appearance with the Guadalajara Symphony Orchestra following his Nina Plant Wideman Competition win, and a nationally broadcast recital from Ex-convento del Carman in Mexico.

Though Martin maintains an active concert schedule, his focus has shifted toward church music and composer work. His compositions and arrangements appear in venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to hundreds of congregations across North America. Based in Austin with his family, Martin continues to draw audiences with the breadth and originality of his musical output.
