About the Composer: Loreta Fin

Loreta Fin AM is a Sydney-trained violinist and violist whose career spans performance, education, and composition. As Principal Viola player with the Queensland Pops Orchestra for more than 25 years and Director of Strings at Somerville House School since 1993, she has built a deep understanding of what works in the rehearsal room and on stage. Her credentials as an adjudicator, presenter at national conferences, and examiner for the Australian Music Examinations Board reflect her standing in Australian music education.

With over 100 published string orchestra works to her name, Fin has shaped the landscape of young ensemble repertoire internationally. Her service to the Australian Strings Association spanning decades, her role as State Advisor for Strings, and her regular conducting of Honours Ensembles Programs demonstrate her commitment to developing the next generation of string players. In 2018, she received the National Award for Services to Music and String Teaching in Australia.
