Heather Sorenson

Heather Sorenson brings a rare fluency to both traditional hymnic language and contemporary worship idioms, having built her reputation as a composer and arranger across churches, concert halls, universities, and competitions worldwide. Based in Dallas, she trained first as a pianist before establishing herself as a distinctive voice in choral and orchestral writing. Her commissions span from Texas A&M University to the Kennedy Center, and her oratorio EXODUS premiered at Carnegie Hall.

Education and mentorship have shaped her career as much as composition. She taught elementary music at Grace Academy of Dallas, served as adjunct faculty at Baylor University, and regularly leads master classes and workshops at universities and worship conferences across the country. When not writing or traveling as a guest conductor and lecturer, Sorenson organizes benefit concerts for nonprofits close to her heart.
