Carey Cheney

Carey Cheney has spent more than three decades performing and teaching cello across North America and internationally. Her orchestral experience includes positions with the Austin Symphony, Savannah Symphony, Knoxville Chamber Orchestra, and Utah Symphony, along with regular chamber music collaborations at universities and in community ensembles. Since 2000, she has been a mentor in Suzuki teacher training programs through the Suzuki Association of the Americas, leading workshops on topics ranging from the Bach Suites to bowing styles to supplementary repertoire.

For 25 years, Cheney has actively researched cello literature at all levels, from art music to pedagogical compositions designed for young players. She presents at conferences, master classes, and institutes throughout North America, Mexico, Central America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Sweden, and Italy. Her published work includes the complete eight-volume Solos for Young Cellists series, which she has also recorded in full.
