Robert Sheldon stands among the most frequently performed composers for wind band in the United States and internationally. His catalog includes hundreds of works that appear on contest lists, honor band programs, and concert stages worldwide, from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House. He leads the authorship of Sound Innovations for Concert Band and has received major recognition from the American School Band Director's Association, Phi Beta Mu, and ASCAP.
Sheldon maintains an active schedule as guest conductor for all-state and regional honor bands, clinician at universities and state music education conferences, and commissioned composer. His work has taken him across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, conducting performances of his compositions and presenting music education seminars. In 2020, VanderCook College of Music awarded him an honorary doctorate.
