About the Composer: Scott Watson
Scott Watson has shaped music education across two distinct roles: as an instrumental teacher in the Parkland School District near Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he spent 35 years developing elementary and high school band programs, and now as Associate Professor of Music at Cairn University. His compositional voice draws equally from contemporary concert art music and his deep experience in the school band world, resulting in more than 120 published works for concert band, string orchestra, and chamber ensembles.
Watson's music has reached audiences at venues including the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, and the White House. Beyond composition, he has authored the influential text Using Technology to Unlock Musical Creativity (Oxford University Press, 2011) and continues to work as a clinician and guest conductor for festival and honor bands. His work with Alfred Publications includes serving as an exclusive composer and contributor to the Sound Innovations series.
