About the Arranger: Jay Althouse
Jay Althouse holds degrees in Music Education and Music from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he was later honored as a Distinguished Alumnus. His work in music publishing as a rights and licenses administrator gave him insider knowledge of what choral directors need; during that tenure, he served on the Executive Board of the Music Publishers Association of America.
With over 800 choral works in print across all difficulty levels, Althouse has become a staple in American choral libraries. His compositions receive regular ASCAP Special Awards, and he has co-created children's musicals, edited influential vocal solo collections, and authored or co-authored essential classroom resources including The Complete Choral Warm-up Book and Accent on Composers. His choral work I Hear America Singing, co-written with his wife Sally K. Albrecht, was performed by the San Francisco Girls and Boys Choirs at President Barack Obama's 2009 Inauguration. Althouse currently serves on the National Advisory Board of the Folk Art Society of America and contributes regularly to its publications.
