Hal H. Hopson is a prolific composer and church musician based in Dallas, Texas, with more than 1000 published works spanning virtually every genre of sacred music. His compositions appear regularly in newly published hymnals and psalm collections, reflecting his sustained focus on congregational song and liturgical music. In 1976, his cantata God with Us was selected by a Kennedy Center panel as one of the few American choral compositions worthy of preservation in a time capsule to be opened at the nation's Tricentennial in 2076.
Hopson has served on the national boards of The Presbyterian Association of Musicians and Choristers Guild, and he conducts workshops and choral festivals throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. His contributions to music education and composition have earned him recognition in The International Who's Who in Music and the title of National Patron from Delta Omicron, a professional music fraternity. As an ASCAP member, he has received annual performance awards for consecutive years.
