Gary Hallquist teaches Worship Ministries at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and brings decades of church music leadership to his compositions. His background spans multiple institutions across the Southeast, including significant roles at large churches in Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana. He holds degrees from Oral Roberts University, the University of North Texas (Master of Music in clarinet performance), and Beeson Divinity School (Master of Theological Studies), giving him rare fluency in both musical craft and theological depth.
Beyond composition, Hallquist is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist on saxophone, clarinet, and flute, a recording artist with two solo albums, and a sought-after speaker and worship leader at conferences. His catalog of published church choral and instrumental music reflects a composer who understands what works in real congregational settings. He and his wife Sherrell are parents to three adult children.
