About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht
Sally K. Albrecht has shaped choral music in American schools for over four decades. Recognized since 1987 as a recipient of the ASCAP Special Music Award, she has published more than 600 choral works alongside 75 larger songbooks and musicals. Her expertise spans conducting, composition, and music education; she has led honor choirs at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center, and spent three decades directing choral and vocal publications for major educational music publishers, including her role as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at Alfred Music.
Albrecht earned a B.A. in Music and Theater from Rollins College (1976), then completed both an M.A. in Drama (1977) and M.M. in Accompanying (1979) at the University of Miami. She has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. In recognition of her contributions to music education and leadership, she received the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College in 2021, and has served as Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society.
