About the Composer: Robert Sheldon

Robert Sheldon stands among the most frequently programmed composers in wind band repertoire. His works appear regularly on concert and contest schedules worldwide, and he has conducted his own compositions at venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to the Kennedy Center. Sheldon leads the composition of Sound Innovations for Concert Band and has received honors from the American School Band Director's Association, Phi Beta Mu, and ASCAP.

Beyond composing, Sheldon maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor for All-State and Regional Honor Bands and serves as a clinician at universities and state music education conferences. His conducting and teaching have taken him across the United States and internationally to Japan, Canada, Italy, Germany, Australia, and China. VanderCook College of Music awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2020, recognizing his sustained impact on music education.
