About the Composer: Timothy Loest
Timothy Loest has spent over thirty years in the classroom developing music that speaks directly to young musicians and their teachers. His compositions and arrangements have reached audiences far beyond the concert hall, appearing on network television including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America, while his band works are performed by ensembles worldwide. In 2017, his composition Cloud Gate (Reflections of a City) was heard by over 5,000 spectators at Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education.
Loest's career spans multiple roles: composer, arranger, educator, and founder of Fanfare Music Press (established 2022). He has written extensively for major publishers including FJH Music Company, C.L. Barnhouse Company, and Warner Bros. Publications, and he is closely associated with several widely adopted band methods such as Measures of Success: A Comprehensive Musicianship Band Method and Warm-ups and Beyond. He holds degrees in music education from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, maintains ASCAP membership, and regularly accepts commissions for band arrangements and original compositions.
