About the Composer: Lois Brownsey

Lois Brownsey (Heckman) studied at Temple University and the Guitar Workshop in Philadelphia, where she was deeply involved in musical theatre. For decades, she performed live in pop, rock, and blues ensembles across the United States and internationally, playing bass and singing until 1997. She has also lent her songwriting talents to commercial jingles for major clients including AT&T and GMC Truck Dealers.

With her longtime writing partner Marti Lunn Lantz, Brownsey has created a substantial catalog of choral works and song collections published by Alfred, spanning multi-cultural themes and seasonal repertoire. The duo's compositions include "Winter's Frost," "Japanese Snow Song," and "The Colors of Winter," alongside collections like Celebrations around the World and Inventions Rock. Brownsey has also collaborated with Sally K. Albrecht on holiday works. She currently resides in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania and co-owns Red Rock Recording Studios with her husband, recording engineer Kent Heckman, where many Alfred projects are produced.
