About the Composer: Joseph M. Martin
Joseph M. Martin studied piano performance at Furman University and later earned his master's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he taught in the Piano Pedagogy Department for five years. His performance career has taken him across the United States and Mexico, including a featured appearance with the Guadalajara Symphony Orchestra following his win in the Nina Plant Wideman Competition. His solo recital work has been broadcast nationally, and his compositions and arrangements now appear in spaces ranging from Carnegie Hall to church sanctuaries throughout North America.
Martin's gift lies in his ability to write music that serves worship while maintaining genuine artistic substance. Rather than compromise between accessibility and depth, his work achieves both. He continues to balance concert performances with his primary focus on church music, composing prolifically for congregations and musicians' conferences. He makes his home in Austin, Texas.
