About the Composer: Roland Barrett
Roland Barrett has shaped young musicians and innovative compositions for decades. After fifteen years as Assistant Director of Bands, he joined the University of Oklahoma faculty in 2001, where he teaches music theory and composition at both undergraduate and graduate levels, with a focus on twentieth-century studies.
Barrett's catalog includes over two hundred published works and arrangements for symphonic band, chamber ensembles, and marching band. His compositions have earned performances from the Dallas Wind Symphony, All-State and All-Region Honor Bands, and national recognition through NPR, cable television, and major conventions including the Midwest Band & Orchestra Convention and International Trumpet Guild. He continues to arrange music for the Pride of Oklahoma marching band and is a multiple recipient of the ASCAP Plus award.
