His work spans band, orchestra, jazz ensemble, and vocal literature, earning him recognition as one of the most frequently performed composer/arrangers in the field. Strommen receives consistent commissions and serves as a guest clinician at festivals and conferences nationwide.
A City College of New York alumnus, Strommen maintains active ties to music education as an adjunct professor of orchestration and composition at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. He has received the ASCAP Standard Writers Award annually, reflecting the consistent quality and reach of his catalog. Strommen divides his time between Long Island, New York and Colorado.
