About the Composer: Mark Williams

Mark Williams built his reputation as one of the most prolific and performed composers for school ensembles. His catalog of over 200 works emerged from decades of direct experience teaching elementary band in Washington state, where he developed an intuitive sense for what young musicians could achieve. Co-authoring the Accent on Achievement Band Method gave him a platform to shape instrumental music education across the country.

Beyond the page, Williams was a clinician and guest conductor who visited 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia, bringing his compositions to life in rehearsal rooms everywhere. He performed professionally on bassoon and served as conductor and artistic director for the Spokane British Brass Band. His contributions earned recognition including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. Williams held degrees from Eastern Washington University and also served as woodwind performer and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band.
