Russian Easter Overture

Frank Erickson's transcription of this classic work by Rimsky-Korsakov will appeal to your students with it's varied colors and melodies. Old church modes were a favorite of Rimsky-Korsakov and this overture carries the subtitle "Overture on Sacred Themes." Each section is challenged with exposed parts that will demostrate their abilities. Rapid flurries in the upper woodwinds will keep your flute and clarinet players practicing while your trombone section is featured in lyrical passages. The work closes with a large triumphant fanfare.
