About the Composer: Richard Bell
Richard Bell brings nearly three decades of middle and high school orchestra teaching experience to his current role as associate professor of music at Clayton State University, where he also conducts the Southern Crescent Symphony. His work across orchestra, composition, music theory, and education has earned him recognition throughout Georgia's music community, including the Distinguished Career Award from the Georgia Music Educators Association and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Georgia String Teachers Association.
Beyond the classroom and concert hall, Bell has shaped music education policy and advocacy at state and regional levels. He holds degrees from Florida State University and the University of Georgia, has presented at national conferences including the American String Teachers Association and MENC, and has served as president of both the Georgia Music Educators Association and its state chapter of ASTA. His published and commissioned works for school orchestras reflect his deep understanding of what young musicians need to play and learn.
