About the Composer: JaRod Hall
JaRod Hall brings authentic groove sensibility to the concert band world, informed by deep roots in both classical training and contemporary ensemble performance. A native of Texas, he earned degrees in music education and composition from the University of North Texas and Texas State University, studying with distinguished faculty in conducting and composition. His performance experience spans principal tuba roles with university wind ensembles, membership in the 3 O'Clock Lab Band, and four consecutive selections to the Texas All-State Band, culminating in a principal chair assignment in jazz bass trombone.
Hall's work as a middle school and high school band director shaped his approach to writing music that resonates with young performers. His students consistently earned sweepstakes awards at the UIL Concert and Sightreading Evaluations, and his 2018 non-varsity band at Griffin Middle School became the first in Frisco ISD to achieve the Citation of Excellence. His compositions now appear on the Texas Prescribed Music List, J.W. Pepper's Editor's Choice selections, and Bandworld's Top 100, with awards including the 2021 Barbara Buehlman Prize for his grade 2 work "Through the Storm."
