About the Composer: Roland Barrett

Roland Barrett has shaped music theory and composition instruction at the University of Oklahoma since 2001, bringing twenty years of combined experience in academic teaching and professional ensemble direction. His scholarly focus centers on twentieth-century compositional techniques, which he teaches across undergraduate and graduate courses. Beyond the classroom, he remains the musical arranger for the Pride of Oklahoma marching band and has built a catalog exceeding two hundred published works for symphonic and concert band, chamber ensembles, and marching ensembles.

Barrett's compositions have reached national audiences through performances by the Dallas Wind Symphony, All-State and All-Region honor ensembles, NPR broadcasts, and presentations at major conventions including the Midwest Band & Orchestra Convention and the International Trumpet Guild. He is a multiple recipient of the ASCAP Plus award and earned the Michael Hennagin memorial scholarship in composition at the University of Oklahoma.
