About the Composer: Brian Chung
Brian Chung brings decades of real-world experience spanning performance, composition, arrangement, writing, and music business leadership. After earning an undergraduate degree in business from the University of Michigan and studying piano and conducting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, he completed an MBA at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management before spending over three decades as Senior Vice President at Kawai America Corporation.
Throughout his career, Chung has been recognized as a thought leader in music education and industry development. He holds the 2004 MTNA Foundation Fellowship, the 2010 MTNA Distinguished Service Award, the 2019 MTNA Citation for Leadership, and the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award from the California Association of Professional Music Teachers. His combination of business acumen, musical training, and passion for pedagogy informs every page of this handbook.
