Joel Raney

Joel Raney absorbed gospel music in a rural Alabama Baptist church before his fingers were barely big enough for the keyboard. He earned his choral conducting degree from the University of North Alabama and later studied piano performance at Juilliard, combining both disciplines into a distinctive compositional voice. Since 1999, he has published over 300 works across virtually every vocal and instrumental medium, serving as Editor for Hope Publishing while maintaining an active schedule as a clinician, concert performer, and theater director across North America.

Raney's work spans from church music to commercial composition; he has created soundtracks for thousands of television and radio spots and conducted national Broadway tours. He performs regularly as a piano soloist and in duo-concert with organist Jane Holstein, and has released multiple album projects including organ-piano duets and several solo piano recordings. Currently serving as Minister of Music at First Baptist Church of Oak Park, Illinois, his compositions consistently appear at the top of choral sales charts.
