Description
"Realms of Endless Day" is a fantasy setting of the hymn tune melody, "Picardy." This melody, thought to have been named for the region in France where it is believed the melody originated, is also the melody for the hymns "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence" and "Christians, Let Us Love One Another," as well as the "Hymn of Saint James." This enduring and tuneful melody is given three contrasting statements that gradually build to an exciting conclusion. This piece is scored for full orchestra by arranger Michael Kamuf, but will work quite effectively with strings alone. (3:30)

About the Arranger: Michael Kamuf
Michael Kamuf studied jazz performance and music education at Youngstown State University's Dana School of Music, then earned a master's degree in instrumental conducting from George Mason University. His compositions and arrangements have been performed by prestigious ensembles including the Woody Herman and Glenn Miller Orchestras, the USAF Airmen of Note, and the US Navy Commodores, as well as by acclaimed soloists like James Moody, Eddie Daniels, and Sean Jones.
Kamuf spent three decades teaching instrumental music in Montgomery County Public Schools, Maryland, where he directed bands and orchestras at John T. Baker Middle School for 27 years. His student ensembles earned consistent festival recognition and commissioned works from established composers. An exclusive Belwin writer with over 100 publications in print, Kamuf currently leads the Mike Kamuf Little Big Band, a jazz octet based in the Baltimore and Washington, DC area.
