Tom Gerou has established himself as a prolific composer and music education specialist with more than 160 published works across multiple genres and formats. His output spans instructional materials like the Essential Dictionary of Music Notation and Essential Dictionary of Orchestration, alongside original compositions and arrangements that have become foundational to piano instruction. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in composition from the University of Southern California and a Master of Music degree in composition from Yale University.

Gerou's arrangements permeate Alfred's Basic Piano Library collections including Greatest Hits, Patriotic Solos, Popular Hits, Praise Hits, and Top Hits.
