About the Composer: Brad Ciechomski

Brad Ciechomski

Brad Ciechomski directs the band program at Harrison Middle School in Yarmouth, Maine, where he earned Teacher of the Year honors in 2005-2006 and was recognized as one of only 51 American teachers to receive the American Star of Teaching award in 2008. He earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of New Hampshire, where he studied composition with Andrew Boysen Jr. His commissions span all levels of ensemble, from elementary through college, and his work has been featured at the MENC national convention.

Beyond the classroom, Ciechomski maintains an active presence across New England as a clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor at district and state festivals. He performs as a freelance drummer with regional and national artists, having shared the stage with jazz luminaries including Clark Terry, Mel Torme, Bob Mintzer, The New York Voices, and Wayne Bergeron, as well as David Crosby of Crosby, Stills and Nash. He lives in Portland, Maine with his wife, a bassist, and their two daughters.
