About the Composer: Todd Stalter
Todd Stalter built a legendary 34-year tenure as Director of Bands at Eureka High School in Illinois, where his ensembles achieved sustained excellence across multiple competitive platforms. His marching band earned 16 Class 1A state championships, his concert band amassed consistent Superior ratings at IHSA contests, and his groups performed at Orchestra Hall in Chicago and Walt Disney World. Beyond the high school setting, he has guest-conducted All-State Bands in Georgia and Delaware, adjudicated extensively for solo and ensemble as well as large group competitions, and presented clinics on composition, conducting, and music education throughout the Midwest.
Stalter holds degrees in music education and trumpet performance from Illinois State University, where he studied conducting with Dr. Stephen K. Steele and trumpet with Richard Lehman of the United States Marine Band. His compositions for band and string orchestra are performed nationally and appear on state festival lists across the country; several works are featured in the GIA publication "Teaching Music Through Performance in Band." He holds membership in the Illinois State Marching Band Championships Hall of Fame and maintains an active schedule as clinician and adjudicator.
