About the Composer: Robert Sheldon
Robert Sheldon stands among the most frequently performed composers of concert band music in schools today. His output spans original compositions, arrangements, and pedagogical works that have earned him recognition from the American School Band Directors Association, Phi Beta Mu, and ASCAP. Beyond the page, Sheldon maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor for All-State and Regional Honor Bands, clinician at universities and state music education conferences, and international ambassador who has led performances and workshops across the United States, Japan, Canada, Italy, Germany, Australia, and China.
Sheldon's compositions appear regularly on contest and concert programs worldwide, and his works have been performed at Carnegie Hall, Orchestra Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center. He is the lead author of Sound Innovations for Concert Band, a comprehensive pedagogical series. In 2020, VanderCook College of Music awarded him an honorary doctorate in recognition of his contributions to music education.
