About the Composer: JaRod Hall
JaRod Hall is a Texas-based composer and educator whose work reflects deep roots in both concert and performing arts traditions. Trained in music education at the University of North Texas and composition at Texas State University, he has spent eight years directing middle school bands, earning consistent sweepstakes awards at UIL evaluations and guiding his students to state-level recognition. His 2018 non-varsity band at Griffin Middle School became the first in Frisco ISD history to receive the Citation of Excellence, an honor given to only the top two non-varsity bands statewide in Class A.
As a tubist and trombonist, Hall has performed with the North Texas Wind Symphony, the 3 O'Clock Lab Band, and served as principal tuba with the Texas State Wind Symphony. He earned four consecutive years of Texas All-State Band selection (2007-2009 on tuba; 2010 on jazz bass trombone, placing first chair), participated in the 2014 Disneyland All-American College Band, and served as drum major for the 2013 Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps. His compositions appear on the Texas Prescribed Music List, J.W. Pepper's Editor's Choice list, and the Bandworld Top 100 list, with recent honors including the 2020 Dallas Winds Call for Fanfares and the 2021 Barbara Buehlman Prize for middle school band.
