Dennis Alexander

Dennis Alexander has shaped educational piano pedagogy for decades through his prolific output of accessible, engaging compositions. Since joining Alfred Music Publishing in 1986, he has created more than 400 publications and recordings that have established him as one of the most widely performed composers of educational piano music worldwide. He taught piano pedagogy at the University of Montana for 24 years before relocating to California, where he held faculty positions at Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Northridge. His career extends beyond the studio and classroom into performance; he made his Carnegie Recital Hall debut in 1987 and has collaborated with internationally recognized soloists and chamber ensembles across multiple continents.

Alexander's educational impact extends through his roles as a respected clinician at state and national music teachers conventions and as a commissioned composer for numerous organizations. His performances and workshops have taken him throughout Asia, and his compositions continue to be standard repertoire in piano studios and classrooms globally. He holds a degree from the University of Kansas and maintains an active composing and touring schedule from his current home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
