Dennis Alexander

Dennis Alexander has shaped educational piano pedagogy for decades through his work with Alfred Music Publishing, beginning in 1986. His catalog of over 400 publications has established him as one of the most widely performed composers of instructional piano music worldwide. He taught piano pedagogy at the University of Montana for 24 years and held faculty positions at Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Northridge before relocating to New Mexico, where he continues an active schedule of composing, performing, and clinician work.

Beyond composition, Alexander has maintained a performing career as soloist, accompanist, and chamber musician, making his Carnegie Recital Hall debut in 1987 and touring internationally to Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, and India. He has served as a collaborative artist for recognized soloists and ensembles and as a popular clinician at state and national music teachers conventions, including conducting a master class at the MTNA national convention in 2009.
