Benjamin Harlan serves as Dean of the School of Church Music at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where he shapes the next generation of church musicians. His compositions and arrangements appear in catalogs from major publishers across choral, keyboard, and handbell genres. He holds degrees from Baylor University (B.M. and M.M.) and earned his D.M.A. from SBTS, earning ASCAP recognition annually since 1990.
Throughout his career, Harlan has led music programs at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana and First Baptist Church in St. Francisville, Louisiana, and previously taught at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary as Associate Professor of Church Music. His professional affiliations include ASCAP, the American Choral Directors Association, and the Southern Baptist Church Music Conference.
